yea but in socorro we got to go to a rodeo.... =|
yea i second ladros's post about the memories, we had an awesome time last year at ssp, hope u guys all get similar great experiences out of it (minus the tatertot casseroles and incredibly hot hot weather)

oook
speaking from socorro

we have HOT, HOOOOT weather
almost everyone lost their keys at least once
i got sick once b/c of the food
and yeah, sometimes the same pizza stays for 2-3 days :)

we'ra having A LOT of fun
and yeah....what they say on the web-site IS true
i was a bit skeptical about testimonials at first :)

Woohooo! :)

Hello from the Ojai campus again!

I heard you guys are clouded out for three weeks already! We took some photos for you guys...

I tripled my winnings and then lost $10, but I'm still going strong. =p There's a group that's poker crazy here.

We went to the Santa Barbara Planetarium and a beach by Santa Barbara on Wednesday...'twas great!

Okay, back to my programming hws. =p

socorro 2006. end.

The Music Never Dies, Kevin Who Has The Best Facial Hair

THE Kevin never dies lol
NO SSPer ever dies, actually, at least in my heart :)

oi ppl from Ojai....the toughest part of the program is still ahead of you :(
saying good bye to ppl, whom you'll never see again under same conditions was waaaay harder than MPA (Math, Physics, Astronomy), OD program, and report all together...
My advice is, enjoy every moment of this last week, because before you know it, it's going to be over...forever... sob

sorry for such a depressing post....i'm in a sad mood right now... :(

Dan!!!! nooo....

nwwooooohhhh.....!

SSP Ojai rawked. Totally.

SSP was the best summer program I had ever attended...

I agree Chris Su. You are God. SSP Ojai is God. Berk is God. :-D.

SSP was the best six weeks of my life. Possibly forever....

yep, that's how we feel, too
how was the last day?

The last day was aiite.

Of course, two out of the 36 had already left the previous night so we already felt the pang of saying goodbyes and such...

Leaving everyone was painful. And I'm sure you guys went though the same thing too...I wish to see some of the SSPers again when I'm in the states though! I miss them all.

SSP socorro had a ton of field trips but SSP ojai got to go to the beach haha

SSP Ojai didn't get clouded out massively like SSP Socorro haha

SSP socorro had wayyy too many T-storms

I'd like to do a short summary for those inclined to apply to SSP next year, as there will undoubtedly be:

Many people jump at the chance to go to TASP or RSI, but I'd say that SSP was one of the most unregrettable choices I made in choosing a summer program. While RSI is much more individual-research based, there is something about all 36 students working on the same project (with different asteroids) that is not found in 70 students working on projects that are vastly different from one another.

Throughout the course of SSP, you will meet talented and bright kids who would offer you support and friendship throughout the six weeks, extending their hands to you when you need some programming assistance or even just a midnight round of poker or other games in the cafeteria. You will become more connected to those individuals than many people in your school, even your classmates. You will share the lectures, the field trips, the observation sessions, the darkroom, the computer lab, the dorms, the campus together. You will find people that are skilled in every area of life, including sports, chess, gambling, making out (lol)....etc. These people will become part of your life at SSP and even after the program.

You will experience all of the work (and the pain) together. A word on the SSP curriculum: don't doubt the rigors of it; you will get an adequate mental exercise there.

Good luck to ya'll class of 2007!

HA! No one made out at SSP Socorro

we're angels

wink wink

well, except when people were sharing beds on the last night

=P

shhh Matt...dont tell everyone...what would parents think about this program? :)
as for everything else, i bet it's the best advertisement for SSP

Oh - there are so much more than sharing beds...but I think it's too explicit to mention here. We don't want to scare all of the '07-ers away. =)

Nice....discovering this thread now that ssp is over:) It would've been nice to know you ojai guys before camp....Mr. Bowdon said we were not supposed too:(

I miss you Henry and Chris and David!!!!

Vive L'Berk! and TaiVONS:)!!!
