I don't know what it's called, but there is an international relations simulation that is one of the most fun things I have ever done. I highly recommend it. A lot of the people I met online and myself ranked it first, and we all ended up in the same class and got to meet eachother.

Political Science Workshop. Hey, deathbyhappiness.. it's me, Agnes! Are you who I think you are?

It's me Misty. Welcome to CC. How'd you find out about it?

I found out about CC about a month or two ago because I freaking out about nominations. It sucks to be rejected by your senators (well.. half-rejected by one... alternate nomination) and so I had to wait for my Congressman... who decided to tell my principal... and she had to keep it a secret for a whole week. She kept smiling at me all week now that I think about it. So, yeah.. I was being a nervous wreck and a stressbomb (no surprise). I googled the Internet to death so I could find out more about noms, LOAs, and the waiting list.

Yes, I forgot to tell you about it, and as you can see from my 123 posts I have been here for a while.

The Political Science workshop was very good.

Was there an Aeronautical or Astronautical workshop at the Seminar? And if so was it good for those who took it? Also, the navy seminar has a martial arts workshop. Does the Airforce Seminar have one and if so was it good too?? Just wondering on the thoughts of those who took Seminar and which were their favorite workshops and why if you don't mind... Thanks alot!

There was an Astro workshop which was cool because they showed us a video of thier last project and a couple demos. Then we made our own model rockets and had a distance contest on the parade field.

I believe that there was an Aero workshop which was glider design. Everyone that took that class said it was their favorite, but I didn't get into that one.

All the workshops were good that I went to and they were pretty interesting. I don't know about the English seminar of War poetry and literary analysis, or something like that, luckily, I didn't get put in that one.

I personally loved the Poli Sci seminar, if any of you guys are filling out your packets...its a lot of fun.

I also got placed into the wonderful war poetry...and it wasn't as bad as some of you would think. I actually somewhat enjoyed it...I mean, it is reading poems, but its not as terrible as you would think.

To the current seminar people...if they offer the Eagles Pike hike again, DO IT! It was absolutey awesome...but extremely tiring...just know that it's worth it.

I was assigned to Stanley Canyon hike which wasnt too bad. I didnt sign up for it but they gave it to me since Obstacle Course was taken away.

It was neat when it began to rain/snow on us and got really windy, but it was one scary hike. At times you would be walking up real slick rocks and be slipping all over them. One kid fell down and busted up his knee real bad, but it was still fun.

Is obstacle course an option this year???

Yeah the Political Science Workshop was definitely the best. I had it first and it was kind of sad because the seminars that followed couldn't even compete. Bombs on Target was pretty fun, though. Making Money as an Air Force Officer was pretty good. And.. BCDT was fun. We watched a clip from Full Metal Jacket and learned how to march and everything. But yes, Political Science was awesome.

Don't count on getting your windbreakers.

I still want mine.

Stanley Canyon was really cool. Quite a few people fell into the river when we were running down the mountain. There are some pretty good cliffs on that trail that give a good view.

They dropped the ball on the winbreakers. They said they ordered them from the same company as the 2004 Summer Seminar and that they didn't get them that year either. Good plan.

Yeah, im still windbreaker less too.

They kept promising that they would get them to us, but I still haven't seen mine yet...

When do they usually send out the registration packets for SS? I was accepted around Jan 10th. And was accepted to USMA SLS around Jan 28th and have already received my USMA Packet.

Hopefully USAFA has learned their lesson doing business with that company, cause I'm counting on a windbreaker and a correctly sized shirt :) so I'm gonna schedule my flight to be one of the first ones there.

haha, yeah you probably won't get a windbreaker ;). I got 3 XL shirts and 2 M. I usually wear a S, but its not so bad! It is really a good experience, windbreaker or not :). Oh yeah, I didn't get issued a sweatshirt either at first... so I was hiking up a mountain in the morning (COLD!!!) in just a t-shirt because I figured that since they issued me a sweatshirt, I didn't have to bring one. Now don't just think I'm a wimp thats not used to the cold, I'm from Minnesota! Make sure you bring warm clothes, they'll come in handy.

I got 5 XL shirts because I was one of the last buses there. And my sweatpants were L.

Yeah, I agree, it was a great experience and my opinion probably wouldn't have changed even if we had received our windbreakers.

tn48th.. I got my packet in early April. I nearly screamed my head off.

my poli sci workshop should have been fun, except some people got way too into it, i.e. physically fighting

haha how did they get into a fight? That sounds like the political science was pretty intense!

Mobius27...I mush have been in your class! I remember that fight, it was a bit scary. Between the U.S. and the press, right? I was Turkey with two other people, and we defeated 4 huge countries in a war. That was what one my table the permission to eat dessert later in the day. Turkey is a pretty small place! I still enjoyed the Poli Sci workshop a lot though, it was pretty cool.

For any girls out there, request a size smaller than you normally wear, because everything is in guys' sizes.
