Summer seminar physically

Okay so I’m 192lbs and 4’11. I’ve been working on my CFA but so far I have only gotten 30 push ups, 50 sit ups, 35’ bb throw and a 12.9s shuttle run. I have a split tendon so I can’t do alot of running ( not even a mile). How much is this going to affect me at SS and how much will it hurt my chances of receiving an appointment?

Forgive my lack of tact, but you need a straight answer.

As it stands right now, don’t expect to be admitted to the Academy, or even into the military in general, just based upon physical fitness standards. If you can’t run a mile and a half in a reasonable amount of time, you cannot serve in the Air Force. It’s as simple as that. Now, obviously allowances can be made for injuries, but I get the sense that your weight is almost a prohibitive factor. Your current BMI would make you an anomaly among cadets. Check out [this chart](http://www.lowfatdietplan.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/BMI-Chart-good-one.png). To succeed at the Academy, you really need to be in the green (or possibly in the yellow range if you’re carrying a lot of muscle). Continue working hard on both cardiovascular and muscular fitness, and really push yourself to make these a top priority. You’ll need both to have a shot at this place.

I understand that and I have been! I mean I can do I mile on an elliptical in about 8 min. but since I got my split tendon I cant run. and I know right now I don’t have a chance. The thing is that I applied to the Summer Seminar this summer and I got accepted and decided to go. I’m wondering how much my predicament physically will hurt me and how much it will affect my time at the seminar this summer!

Excuse me for being blunt but, you will not complete the Summer Seminar if you cannot run at least two miles. All service academies receive plenty of fully physically qualified candidates, and the odds are near impossible that they would make any sort of exception for you. Its a grim truth but if you cannot restore your ankle to the point where you can easily run a 7:00 mile, you will stand no chance of entry.

We’ll Summer Seminar isn’t a graded event. You will have a tough time at PT, and you will get extra attention during Doolie for a Day. Realize you would miserably fail the CFA for admissions.

I’m getting the surgery for my ankle the weekend after I get back from SS. So I’ll be good before I even go into my senior year! If I can’t pass the CFA before I take it in the fall I’m not going to apply. But I am working on the CFA! Thank u for all of y’alls feedback
