I'm a freshman at UCSD this school year, becoming a sophomore this fall. I'm thinking about taking classes during Summer Session 1, still living on campus. My question is: what are the chances of being granted a roommate request if my potential roommate is the opposite gender? Is it allowed at all? I looked on the Housing site and they don't say if opposite gender roommates are/aren't allowed.
If it's allowed at all, I assume that the chances of the request being granted are much lower, since people who apply for a double without specifying a roommate are automatically placed with someone of the same gender. If my chances of getting my request granted are very slim, I might as well just get a single instead.

Anybody here from Housing and Dining Services, or know someone who is?
