Does applying for Summer admission give you any advantages as opposed to applying just for Fall? I applied for Fall then Summer, hoping this will boost my chances of being admitted. I've heard its easier to get into Penn St. by applying for both, but is that really true?

Yes, it helps, but you may be required to attend the summer session in order to attend the fall semester.

I know of several people who applied for Fall, and went a long time without a decision. After applying to Summer, a decision was made within a few short days. So it definitely helps, but as llll said, if you get into Summer and decide PSU is the place for you, you'll have to attend summer before you can attend fall. It begins in July this year, I believe.

Well I would definitely attend either Fall or Summer, PSU is my number one choice and I am just a little nervous about getting in because my grades are slightly sub-par to PSU's middle 50% but I have a lot of AP's and Honors to make up for that. I just hope that I get in for either session. I have like 3.4 with 9 AP's, 8 honors and 1180 SAT.

collegebound i think you have a solid shot at getting in. is that your weighted gpa?
does anyone know the cost of attending summer session? i cant seem to find it on their website.

LEAP: Learning Edge Academic Program, University Park

(last year's fees)

Thats my unweighted, my weighted is a 3.7, the only thing about my school is that it doesn't matter whether you have 5 AP's or 1 AP, they automatically add .3 to your unweighted, its a really stupid way of doing it. My friends with slightly higher grades then me got into fall so hopefully I can get into fall, if not summer should be solid, I would definitely go for either.

Question: How many classes does one usually take and how many days a week are they?

Students usually take 6 credits; they can take 7 if it is a 1 credit first-year seminar. The 3 credit classes are usually 5 days/week for 75 minutes each day in length. There are exceptions though. CMPSC 201 is 4 days/week for 75 minutes each day. EDSGN 100 is 5 days/week for about 180 minutes per day (a lot of fun though). And the list goes on....

Thanks killer, are there any required classes that you have to take?

college bound . . are u slugger in disguise?

yeah collegebound your def. slugger haha same weighed scenario, same grades..

CollegeBound125 - There aren't any courses that are required during the summer session. However, it will be to your advantage to take courses required for your major. You have the opportunity to take ANY course you want granted that you meet the prereqs.

I have a question. I recently go accepted to Berks, but i would really like to go to UPark. Do you think i can change it to summer session and get into U Park??

3.7 weighted
all APs
1180 SATs( CR and Math)
lots of extracurricular activities

did you apply for just fall at UP or did you apply right to berks?

My parents are requiring me to go to China this summer so I don't think I can make it to the summer session at penn state, do you think I can still change my admissions to the fall session instead?

by applying for summer do freshman just go straight to fall at up or do u have to apply every semester to stay in up?

they go straight to fall at up, and no, you dont have to re - apply. what are your stats?

i dont actually have nay because im from england.i really want to attend tis year but i need to take my act or sat in april which means time aint reli guna be on my side so ...i was thinking of applying either this summer or spring of 09 what u think...??

Apply for summer - definitely not spring.

why?what is wrong with spring is it just better to wait and apply for fall??
