Has anyone done it before? How's the workload? The quality of the class? Describe your experience, please :)

yeah i was considering it since i just took ap chem at school but now that ur asking, im kinda nervous to see what the answer is…cuz u probably asked that if it’s known to be hard lol

With so many premed students, the classes that are required for med school applicants tend to be huge and also a bit challenging. They are affectionately (!) called weeders as they tend to drive down the percentage of the student body that plan to become MDs, given the reality that a little less than half the class will earn C or below grades.

Typically these classes have less fierce competition in summer, thus the change to earn a better grade, but the downside is that these classes are already so crammed with material that in a normal semester you have to stay on top of everything or fall permanently behind. In summer, the time is more compressed and thus the same material is stuffed into fewer days and hours. The exams might be scaled a bit to adjust for this, but it can be a lot to absorb and internalize every day. Chem 1A is the most gentle, they tend to get more difficult as you proceed, with organic chemistry and bio 1a the final guillotines of premed hopes and dreams.

Thanks! What is the workload like, hours per day wise?

[Freshman Session - Course List | Berkeley Summer Sessions](http://summer.berkeley.edu/special-programs/freshman-session/course-lists#ListA). I also wanted to take Chem 1A but aparently they don’t offer it!?!?

ya…amen to Bio 1A being the final guillotine.

F uck u, meighan.

And what about Chemistry 1B? How does this compare?
