Chemistry over the summer at UCBerkeley.

Alright, I know that taking premed requirements at other schools during the summer doesn't look all that great, but I'm really considering taking chemistry elsewhere. I took the first quarter of gen chem here at the U of C and all but died. I ended up dropping out of the sequence and I plan to continue during winter quarter next year. Looking back, I feel as though I could have done better if I took the time to study, took the course more seriously...etc.
I feel a bit behind now, and I really want to get chem out of the way, so I figure I should take it over the summer. Problem - the only chem course UChicago offers outside of the normal academic year is o-chem.
So, I did some perusing of the internets and came across Berkeley - which offers courses a heck of a lot cheaper than UChicago (I'm talking HALF the cost). The program starts late enough that I could finish spring quarter here and have about a week to relax at home before going back to school. Nice.
I've got a few questions - is taking chem over the summer worth it? Has anyone here taken chemistry at Berkeley or heard anything about the summer class? In order to get credit, I would have to pass the class with no less than a "B"...taking that into account, are summer courses usually more rigorous than normal classes (what with the ridiculously short span of time)? I just don't know if the quality of the course would be all that great since it's so compact and rushed for time, or if it would be easier or harder to achieve a desirable grade.
Thanks.

Berkeley has the #1 Chemistry department in the nation…Don’t expect anything easy. To give u an example, our average for our last Ochem midterm was about 45 %. It’s not so easy. Look at other UC schools that could possibly be easier in this area.

G chem is pretty easy in the fall if you take it with Prof. Stacy.
