Has anyone heard for 2015? My son filed his application in January, and seems to be checking his email constantly hoping to hear!
My daughter got waitlisted and literally heard 10 days before! Be prepared!
Oh geez, thank you. He’s on the edge of his seat….
Daughter just got her acceptance email this morning. She is a rising 11th grader.
Congratulations!! Still holding our death over here….
Has anyone from Northern California (rising 11th) received their acceptance to USNA Summer Stem 2015?
Any rising 10th graders heard anything? My daughter obsessively checks her email multiple times a day…waiting!
Have anyone rising 10th graders from northern NJ heard anything? I’m still waiting on pins and needles to hear back.
Still zero here. And we received confirmation in February that DS’s application was received, so they definitely have the right email. Seems from these postings and the ones on the service academy forum that notifications have been going out late afternoon East Coast time? It also seems like lots of rising sophomores have yet to hear? Geez.
Son did not get in: 98 GPA, 2 years ahead in math, all advanced courses, placed either first or second in his school, county, and large city science fair, participated in state and won several special awards including speaking to a regional engineering society. Plays 2 sports, community service volunteer, 2 honor society memberships, etc. etc. What else could he do?! Didn’t even get wait listed like last year, just declined. I wish we had understood what they are looking for!
My DS got an waitlist e-mail but didn’t get offer e-mail for a spot yet on Session 2. Still hoping to hear a Good News!
Just to let you all know: I hate to say this but if your student is a white male in a populated state/ area his chances are slim unless there is a family legacy. This program really does try to diversify the candidate pool.
We have been there/ done that and know many, many people who have applied and been waitlisted or rejected from this program. When my daughter finally did get accepted, a girl she met in the airport was also attending. She did not even want to study anything STEM related ( she wanted to be a lawyer) and did not even sign up for the program. Her Asian mom filled out the application and her Navy officer dad was the one who drove her to the airport that day. Just sayin’…
What we finally did was call the number and asked politely why our D had been rejected. We basically asked what they were looking for. They told us that many accepted kids find other summer things to do and do not accept their spots. As they drop out, the wait list opens up. They asked us if D would accept a spot with as little as 7 days notice and we said yes. They wrote to her 2 days later and in a flurry of paperwork and preparation, she attended the summer before her junior year.
How does getting into STEM affect your chances of getting into NASS?
I’ve been told that it has no effect on being admitted to Summer Seminar or the Academy. It may help a tiny bit, but not a significant amount.
It really doesn’t. Only 1/3 of each entering class at USNA has gone to NASS. I was accepted this year after being rejected from NASS last summer
I’m a sophmore currently and applied to the STEM program and got accepted. I have a 4.5 and am in a sport with extra club and have participated in STEM classes before. They look for kids like me but accept GPA’s that range from 3.0-4.67
I got accepted too. Where are you coming from?
Hey guys, I just found out about this forum, and I found out I got into the Summer STEM Program 3 days ago as a rising sophomore! I’m extremely happy I got in because last year I did not get accepted. I am a male from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and I can’t wait to see you guys there!
