I am a parent of a Duke student. We live too far away to move his items back and forth.
We used College Boxes last year and they were too expensive for us. Does anyone know of a service that will move dorm items (mini-fridge, desk chair, reading chair, ottoman, floor lamp, miscellaneous boxes, etc.) to storage and then move them back to the dorm in August?

Unless there’s absolutely no way for your son to get access to a car, I’d suggest going in for storage with a group of friends and DIY move. It’s a lot cheaper.

My son and many of his friends used CollegeShippingAndStorage.com (previously Duke Shipping and Storage) after his freshman year. They pick up, store and deliver to the dorms at times that are convenient to the student. They provide free boxes, and also ship things home at regular UPS rates. Local, cheaper and much more convenient than College Boxes.

Im gonna have to agree with SBR on this on. If that is an option, you should def go the traditional storage route. It will be much cheaper especially if he can split it with some friends.

There seems like there are alot of options in Durham too, take a look [Find Durham self storage for rent - SelfStorage.com](20 Cheap Storage Units in Durham, NC (from $21)). One of those has got to be in yalls price range.

If you cant do that though I hope you find someone that will move the stuff for you. Sorry I have no experience with that… Good luck!

Plus those gigantic trash bags that are in all janitor closets in every dorm are great for storage!

We used Help U Store It. Nothing but great things to say about the company. www.HelpUStoreIt.com
