Summer Voice Programs.

Hi-
I'm currently a sophmore in high school interested in classical voice programs for the summer. I am looking at Northwestern and Carnegie Mellon right now, as I am interested in a program that runs about four-six weeks that focuses just on the voice, not theatere. If you have any suggestions or information about any programs, please reply!
Thanks.

The two best programs that I know are Tanglewood (six weeks) and Interlochen (four). Both concentrate on vocal technique but also do a little with basic theater scenes, some stage movement and acting. If you can deal with a couple of hours per week of that sort of thing, the programs really are top notch. See http://www.interlochen.org/camp/summer_camp_programs/music/high_school_2/advanced_vocal_program and http://www.bu.edu/cfa/music/tanglewood/vocal.htm for more information. Both are auditioned programs and the deadlines may be approaching, so you will need to act fast if interested.

The Oberlin Vocal Academy for High-School students is also an excellent program, although a bit shorter than what you want. Perhaps you could patch it together with another 2-3 week program. You need to be 16 by the time it starts. See http://www.oberlin.edu/con/summer/vahs/Default.html for more. They still have last year's info, but the web site says that the 2007 info should be up soon.
