My counselor gave me a paper that has some admission statistics about all of florida's state universities from 2009-2010. These are the statistics for UF:

Summer 2010
Mid Range GPA: 3.8-4.2
Mid Range SAT: 1640-1910

Fall 2010
Mid Range GPA: 4.1-4.4
Mid Range GPA: 1870-2100

I keep hearing that applying for Summer B doesn't give you better chances, but why would the statistics be so different?

Applying for Summer B at Uf will provide some mild increase in chances of admission, but not much. The statistics for the Class of 2015 admitted for 2011 were as follows:
Applications: 29,329
Admitted: 10486
Admitted Fall 2011:About 7980
Admitted Summer B: About 1900
Admitted Spring 2012 About:606

The mean GPA for the entire admitted class was 4.30, Composite ACT 29 and SAT 1960

The Class of 2016 is projected to have between 30,000 to 31,000 applications which if admission rates and class size stay the same would reduce the acceptance rate to about 36%.
