My college counselor told me to do something in the summer, like a college program... and I've been looking at the schools on my list. Most of them offer ones with science programs (I am very invested in pre-med), but only a few offer really good programs that include biomedical research and stuff. However, these cost around $7000 so I don't know if it's worth it. Will a great, intensive summer program that shows my deep interest in medicine really improve my resume/affect chances at top schools? Because if not, then I don't know if I should pay $7000. Please let me know. Thanks.

The main message it will give colleges is that you were willing and able to pay $7000 for a program. It probably won’t affect your chances much.
