SUNY Bing vs. UCONN vs. UCONN Stamford

Basically, I got accepted into UCONN Stamford and SUNY Bing. I really like Bing. and it looks like the university has everything I want academically. But, it is 5 hours from home and is far away from NYC and other major business cities. Also, since I'm OOS, the cost is ~30k vs. UCONN which for me instate is ~15k and ~10k at Stamford UCONN. However, since I'm planning to go to into Accounting, I will automatically get transfered from Stamford to Storrs!UCONN in 2 years. Aside from the basic academics, Stamford has virtually nothing that interests me.

My dilemma is this: Although i really like Bing, is it worth for me to go there, paying more and being farther away from major cities, or go to Stamford, save money, for x amount of time and take my chances to get into Storrs!UCONN next semester/next year? I know Bing.'s and UCONN's reputation is almost on the same level, but if anything, Bing has me sold on the dorms. However, i am not sure if those two reasons alone are worth the double cost of Bing, not to mention the distance from home.

At the moment, i'm thinking of either going to Bing for 1 or 2 years and transferring back closer to the major business area.

OR

Toughening out a semester or so of Stamford and taking my chances reapplying to UCONN. Although i know this choice is not too hard, i feel like i would be wasting this semester at stamford.

So, should i just go to Bing and have everything at my finger tips and transfer back closer to the major cities for the last couple of years, or stick it out at stamford until i get accepted into storrs!Uconn?

were you accepted into binghamton’s school of management (“SOM”)-- ie where the accounting major is? if not, take into account the fact that it is very difficult to transfer into SOM.

if you go to Binghamton intending to transfer, two words of caution – 1) it is not unusual for people to start at Binghamton thinking they will transfer elsewhere and then decide they like it there too much to leave; 2) make sure you know what courses will transfer so you can plan your coursework such that you don’t end up loosing any credits.

Binghamton’s SOM has an excellent reputation. i don’t really know anything a bout UCONN to compare the two.

if you got accepted into bing som for accounting, you go. it is MUCH better than uconn

Thank you for your input, and yes i was accepted into SOM.
