Bing to Philly: Bus to Scranton/ transfer for bus to Philly...or check Greyhound Home

Great thought. How long is a Bing-Scranton ride?

1 hour at the most....

it's 3 hour drive from Scranton to Philly burbs. Not bad at all. Thank you!

As far as the weather is concerned, it's already snowed this week and stuck to the ground. It was exciting, though some were of course, very... annoyed and scared about the coming months...

I hope it melts before I go for Open House. I'm not used to driving in the snow for 4 hours or so.

It's all melted! Today it's much nicer, the high is expected to be in the 50s.

Doe anybody know if there are any Open Houses this spring. I found something on Binghamton site but it's too vague for me.

You don't need to wait for an Open House event. In my opinion, it's much better to schedule a visit and information session on a typical day. Contact admissions and set up a date and time for a tour and information session.

How's the parties and such? Are people friendly? My mom doesn't like the school because when she visited (prolly in the 70's) she said it was some what racist, so I have to get this notion out of her head. Is the school boring? How would you compare it to Albany?

I've heard Albany isn't very pretty, and is very much a party school. Binghamton has parties if you want it, but if you don't, it's very easy to find other things to do, and other people who share the same mentality as you. It's all about sticking with what you like... And people tend to be very friendly, but of course it varies with where you are, who you are, you'll always find the *******s to ruin it for everyone else.

I'm a potential transfer student, with a 3.7 gpa from college and a 4.3 from h.s., good SATs, leadership positions, APs and IBs from high school, ect. I know I have really good chances of getting in again (I did as a freshmen). I'm just worried about their housing policy. Any current transfers that could tell me about it? Does everyone go into one building or could you be put with someone who has already been there a year and doesn't have a roommate? I'm nervous, thanks!

I know a recent transfer applicant who was told there was no on campus housing for transfers this year. You should check with the admissions office.

Really? That's disappointing, but why would they have that on their website that they do? I guess I'll call on monday. But are you familiar with SUNY binghamton? I'd love to know if you live off campus if you need a car, or if there are buses

I'm only familiar because my daughter is deferred and is thinking about going to another SUNY and transferring to Bing and my impression is that it isn't so hard to get in, but they wouldn't necessarily give you housing (just the last year or so housing has been a problem). There are buses; I think if you usually make friends easily living off campus won't be a problem - just sometimes easier in a dorm.

Okay, I'm not as nervous anymore. I looked into off campus housing and it's cheaper, they have buses and they set you up with transfer roommates. So it's something I never saw myself doing but will be an adventure

When did most transfers hear back? I know they tell you mid april but i've heard of people hearing much earlier.

i got rejected from here…i was soooo surprised,

does binghamton offer an overnight stay, where they set you up with kids already attending?
