SUNY Buffalo vs Ohio State?

Been accepted into both and trying to decide!

I'm a NYS resident so UB would be cheaper and closer to home...

But Ohio State seems like a more exciting school, better social life, and more going on in Columbus.

I'll probably be going for finance.

Any advice?

Can your family afford OSU with no problem and are they willing to do that? If so then go. Otherwise stick with UB.

If money is not an issue go to Ohio State. Of course, I am biased as i am from Ohio. Still think it offers more than Buffalo - but both are fine!

If I were you I would try to make Ohio State University work. If financing Ohio State University will lead to financial burden SUNY Buffalo is a great choice.

OSU gave a pretty good financial aid package so money shouldn’t be an issue!

Should I be concerned about the class sizes being TOO big though?

Overall how is Columbus? Is it a good place to go to school?

The only classes that are big might be lectures, but if you’re in honors the class size drops considerably,20 to maybe 30 students, and once you get into your classes for your major, the class size will be pretty small.

Columbus is great. It’s midwestern friendly and has a lot going on.

^^^^It’s not midwestern friendly to anyone with a Michigan license plate during the last week in November every other year. ;-)

People from that place up north excepted… :)

My H went to U of B (was SUNY Buffalo back then) as did many of my nieces and nephews; I went to OSU and my D was also accepted there. My H makes fun of his alma mater; the sports are nothing special to attend, and the beauty of the campus lacks immensely compared to OSU. OSU and U of B are both large, so class sizes should be similar; they both also have excellent research if you want to pursue that. I still brag about OSU and when I went back to visit with my D I saw that OSU continues to be beautifully maintained, new construction was finishing up on the new student union, and the reputation of the academics was terrific. I say if you are leaning towards OSU and the money is about even, then go for OSU.

I’m also deciding between UB and OSU. After scholarships UB comes out to be about 16k and OSU is 22k. I love OSU but UB’s tuition is enticing. I’m a computer science major. Any suggestions?

^^ Don’t know anything about SUNY-Buffalo CS program, but Ohio Supercomputer Center is located on the campus of TOSU! One of my friends interned there…
