I have a question about the deadlines for SUNY schools. Looking on the Stony Brook website it says that the deadline for applying is December 1st, but a paper that I got from the guidance office in my school says that you have to finish part 1 of the SUNY application by November 3rd or something around then. Is there something mandatory that has to be filled out by November?

If you're using the SUNy appplciation and not the Common Application, you need to submit the SUNY application by November 15th if you're early actioning. Note that this is only your personal info none of your grades and etc. They requrie all your grades and essay/supplements to be there by Dec. 1st.

And if you use the common app it still december 1st correct?

There's no strict deadline; if you're not applying Early Action to Stony Brook, you have plenty of time. December 1 is a recommended deadline. Notifications start going out in February.

(And yes, November 15 is the EA deadline, and your app has to be complete -- transcripts, test scores, essay, recommendation -- by December 15 for EA notification on January 1.)

Common App and SUNY App follow the same "deadlines," just have a different process.

I can't speak for the other SUNYs, though, just Stony Brook.
