Sorry for posting this on KP's Thread, but you guys on the other side of the Maritime College surely have the answer to my question.
During the Indoctrination the Cadets are required to do 42 pushups within 2 minutes, now if one fails to do this what could be the repercussions ?Please advice.

42 push-ups is failing at USMMA. males have to do at least 50 in 2 minutes, should one fail to do so, they are put on PEP, which meets monday, wednesday, and friday mornings and is a mandatory workout session. they retest the PFA every week and once you pass 2 in a row with a certain score (not sure what that is) then you're released from the program.

But you can stop at 102 because you can't get any more points after that. That gave LFWB an extra 15 seconds of rest.

I'm all skins and bones and at present I cannot do more than 22 push-ups .The indoc. starts Aug. 12, a good 23 days away...and even if I start increasing it by 1 every day I'll surely get past the magic figure.Anyways, If KP has a PEP program then surely Maritime must be having one.So, I guess there's no escaping from the minimum push-up limit. Thanks for the replies.

Start pumping iron! And you have until 12 August if you start adding 3 more a day you will be able to do it! You may surprise yourself if you push hard! GOOD LUCK!

I used to be the Company Commander of the Marine Reserve Company next door to SUNY Maritime. Every year for their indoc I and the other Company Commanders would send our senior Sgt's to act as the drill instructors for the incoming freshman. That was 15 years ago, does anyone know if they still use the Marines for drill instructors? I know the unit has deployed overseas several times since 9/11 and they may not have been able to assist due to the deployments.

There are still a few there, but more from the NROTC program. Most are 1st class officers running the indoc there. And the newbied sleep on the T/S Empire State in racks that really are racks! It is only 2 weeks - KP lite. While military in the regiment, the school itself is far less military in nature - more like a regular college with lots of rules. Good Luck, SUNYMaritime2011! You will do fine - you can do anything for 2 weeks.

At USMMA it is required that you pass the fitness test every trimester for the US Navy fitness standards we are required to maintain because we were sworn into the USNR. If you don't meet the minimums your last time senior year you can't graduate because the Navy will not offer you a commission. Obviously the school can not just say ok and let the money they've spent on you go to waste. Instead they make you get up early three times a week and you PT until you pass the test...twice I think.
