I want to go to SUNY potsdam to major in music business, however at some point you have to take some level of audition and a recital
I play no instruments, so is it worth going to?
if you fail you can be dismissed from the school
if anyone has done this already
and doesn't play a instrument, did you pass?
was it easy, hard?
please help

caligurl- You might want to spend some time on the music major forum, and try searching "music business" type threads there.

What specific type of program are you looking for... arts management, production/recording, non profit/fundraising?

Many of the programs are audition based or require "proof" of proficiency on instrument or voice, and can entail a yearly review or jury, and may have a recital requirement as well.

Many would be performers with strong musical skills take the mb route as a career option instead of performing, so it's not unusually to see a high level of proficiency in that type of program.

A bit more info might help to point you to other programs/schools with less instrumental performance requirements. Good luck.

I have a good friend who majored in that at SUNY Oneonta, and he did not have to audition (he is doing an internship in Nashville now), did you look there?
