I know we have to send official transcripts to schools like Johns Hopkins, Yale, and Stanford. But, is there a specific form we have to fill our or do we just tell our school to mail them. If so, do we provide the envelopes and such. I'm confused because the schools ask us to make sure our common app id number is on everything we send to the school; where do we put it if our school is sending the transcript? orrrrrr does the counselor send the official transcript with the secondary school report??

ahh please help! i need to know by tonight!

Your counselor should mail the official transcript; you should not touch it. There is no standard form for transcripts. Your high school has its own format for official transcripts, which usually include an administrator's signature. Our counselor mailed all the school forms together -- SSR, transcript, and letters of recommendation -- which was convenient for the admissions folks and served to assure them that geek_son had neither tampered with the transcript nor reviewed the FERPA-waived letters.

The fewer mailings your college receives, the easier it will be to complete your file and the less chance you stand of hearing later that some forms are missing. So ask your counselor to send the transcript with the SSR if possible. If not, don't sweat it -- your name and high school will identify you, it just might take a little longer for the college to match your transcripts with your file. They don't have to have done that before the application deadline.

Good luck with your application!
