Supplement Essay topic

Hello,

I have a question regarding the essay prompt, "What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?"
Does the essay have to be based on what you wish to study in the future? Though I want to be a biochem. major, I wrote about how Isaac Asimov's "The Last Question" contributed to my understanding of atheism (I am a Christian).
Would this be good as it shows that I have an open mind, or should the topic be something more relevant to the sciences?

The best topic is the one that has meaning to you personally - and provides you the best source for an insightful essay. Don’t try to force-fit a tie into your currently desired field of study unless it specifically asks you to (which this one doesn’t) - otherwise it has more potential to appear contrived than to be on point. Best of luck.
