First of all, when I try to paste my essay for Supplement #3 into the text box on the supplement page, the cursor won't stay in the box unless I hold down the mouse button. It just reverts back to the text box not being selected. So I have no way to edit the text once it is in the box. Does anyone know how to fix this, or why it's happening?

Also for question #3, my essay is 309 words long instead of the required 200-250. However, it is under the character count and the text box allows it all to be entered. Should I still try to cut it down to be 250 words? How important is this? It started as being 500 words and I've had a lot of difficulty shortening it. Thanks in advance...

I had an issue with pasting mine in too… I think I typed in the letter for the first box indicating my essay choice and then pressed tab to move to the lower box and pasted it with no problem. Hopefully that’ll work for you.

I would try to cut it. I spoke with an admissions rep for my region. I was only about 20 words over, and he said try to cut it down to 5 at the most. He told me they give you extra space in the text boxes because yes, they want you to be flexible/expand if you feel it is NECESSARY, but they also want to see how good you can follow their directions.

Our dean has an immediately relevant blog post that just went up today. [500 Words or Less](<a href=“500 Words or Less · Inside Admissions | Tufts Admissions”>500 Words or Less · Inside Admissions | Tufts Admissions)

Hi!
I’m having the same issue regarding not being able to click in the box once I paste my essay, but only for the 3rd question. I was wondering what is necessary in the formatting, because my essay is split into two paragraphs, and it doesn’t show up in the boxes. Is it okay to create a blank line in between the paragraphs, or will they show up as paragraphs when admissions officers read them?
Thank you!
