supplement question

"What specific plans do you have, if any, for using the education you hope to receive?"

Is answering this question necessary? I'm an international so it's an option. first of all i haven't really exactly thought about that especially as an international kid - like i wanna do amazing things for my country sorta thing?
and second i already have lots for them to read - i wrote the supplement essay (although it does seem like a must) and i'm also submitting a writing portfolio.
I doubt I'm gonna end up writing anything spectacular - it's just 500 characters, so they're not looking for anything that substantial i should think?

many thanks.. i'm new to this site and everyone's been really helpful already. :)

yes, it is necessary…judging by the fact u are submitting a writing portfolio as well as the supplementary essay, you should be a good enough writing to communicate something decent in 500 characters…
what u want is not something cliche like “amazing things for my country”, but rather a specific and genuine idea about what u might do…
of course, if u have no plans, u could say that, though i think they would question why u want to got harvard in that case.
