Supplemental Essays

For the supplemental essay, do people usually write it in a regular essay form similar to the common app essay, since the word limit for the supplemental essay is also 650 words?
in that case, is it best to include an introduction (such as a hook, etc) and a conclusion rather than going straight into answering the question?
any other advice on supplemental essays in general? thanks

It can be done both ways.

general supplement advice: don’t repeat stuff from your common app, don’t list your resume again, be mindful of word limit - you only have so many words to tell a college why they should admit you, so if there’s a word limit don’t waste space on lengthy intros and conclusions

@z0e101, I think you’ve been hacked. I saw you revive several old threads in the past but didn’t say anything because your older posts seemed to be legitimate, but that doesn’t seem to be the case now. I’m assuming your account was compromised by someone who’s * really * keen on advertising their dubiously useful site.

And to stay on topic, yes, it can be done both ways, although I think I’ve seen the former done more frequently. It seems a little more polished and you’re able to tack on Cornell-specific blurbs more easily in my experience.

Best of luck!

@coriander23 fortunately I’m not hacked, but my account IS shared with my best friend. Don’t worry, I’ve talked to her and she won’t be using my account for that anymore! Thanks for looking out for me :)

While I’m glad your account wasn’t hacked @z0e101 , sharing an account for any reason is a violation of Terms of Service; have your friend open her own account.

@skieurope Will do!
