Supplemental Letters of Recommendation

I have several people from community organizations that I have worked with, who have offered to write letters of recommendation. However, one is from a religious-based organization, and will probably write a letter that is fairly religious in tone. Will that hurt me in applying to secular colleges (ie Ivies)?

Thanks.

It probably won’t help but I highly doubt it will hurt. If they speak on your character which I expect they will, it won’t be a problem

If you’re applying to a religious school, it’ll probably be a help. However, as a general rule, your concern should be what are the colleges looking for?

If possible, try to impress this to your potential rec letter writers. General banalities like: “good character”, “good work ethic” are next to worthless. Relgious references are likely not beneficial (besides the example I cite above). Anecdotes are what is desired.
