I'm applying to HYPS, and I'm wondering if a Youtube link of some Taekwondo match highlights would help me. There aren't very many people who appreciate or have much knowledge about high level, Olympic-style Taekwondo competition. At the very least, I think a video like this would interest them in me. I know that supplemental materials are supposed to display exceptional talent. I don't know if I qualify as exceptional, but I compete at a high level, national level.

I have no idea about the specific school you’re applying to, but that’s where you’ll have to research. NYU, for instance, specifically states on its website and in its presentations that they absolutely DO NOT WANT ANY supplemental materials, and that if you are applying to an art major or sports scholarship, that they have very specific supplemental material instructions. If its a common app school, look up “arts supplement” or “athletic supplement”. If they accept a commonapp supplement, a box will show up with the proper place to upload, and you can follow common app guidelines from there. I was at a Carnegie Mellon information session and it did say it allowed art(music) supplements through youtube when I asked from the audience.

Is HYPS a private school? The best way to find out is to ask the individual school because every school is different. I’d suggest calling the individual school if it isn’t clear on the website. Schools usually have very specific guidelines for supplements!

PS: If they do accept youtube videos, I’d recommend making it look super professional: maybe an explanation of the names, dates, and meet in the description box? :)
