Does anyone know how Swarthmore is about sending in additional materials? I have an essay that I used for other schools and really like (about a math program I went to and my love for math), but didn't get to fit into my application. I also have a CD of 10 pictures and short explanations from an independent study I did last year on high-speed photography and part of a mathematics team research paper (the part that I did independently + abstract, which is 5 pages) that I wrote last summer at the governor's school for the sciences.

Can you tie any of these extras in "Why Swarthmore?" Remember, brevity is the soul of wit.

I talked about math and a little about that program in my why swat essay (already sent in the application). That's why I didn't make the math essay my common app essay (instead I talked about teaching karate to special needs children). However, now I'm worrying because I don't think my love of math came across as much in my Swat app as in my other apps (for example, Princeton asked for an essay about what i've done with my summers and one of amherst's possible essay prompts was about the beauty of science).

The teacher that helped with my high-speed photography independent study wrote me a recommendation and talked about the project a good bit, but the pictures are really cool (from a photography as well as an electrical engineering standpoint) and could be appreciated by an admissions person who doesn't know a lot about science.

The research paper is the thing I think I'm most likely to send... I ended up (basically on my own) going way beyond what the professor who proposed the project thought was feasible and it also shows my interest in mathematics.

Which one(s) if any do you think I should submit?
