So I’m pretty confused regarding the Supplemental Questionnaire. Is it a good thing or a bad thing?
I have a 3.0-3.1 unweighted gpa. My SAT score was 1620, I didn’t take the ACT. My grades in 10th grade were very low, I received D’s and a F. However, in 11th grade I improved my grades and got A’s and B’s. Besides grades I’ve received two scholarly athlete awards for participating in a sport and having a minimum of a 3.0 gpa. I also received a ‘Most improved player’ award in my junior year (2013-14). To justify my low grades I received in 10th grade I emphasized my situation, about how my single mother lost her job and how I had to live away from my family in my friends place in another city so I can finish high school. Basically a not so good situation. I read online that these questionnaire’s are to explain your borderline grades and such, which I’m assuming is why they sent me one. But, is my reason even a good enough one to deserve to go to this school? I feel bad and I feel as though even though I was given this second chance opportunity, I might be for nothing because a lot of the people who got it for UCLA as well, had like, 3.9 and 4.0 gpa’s, on top of that they said those gpa’s were low. I don’t have any talent or disability so I know I was chosen for grades, but do I have much of a chance going up against people with such high gpa’s? Also, can anyone just provide any additional information on these Supplemental Questionnaire’s. Thank you!
