Supplementary Materials for Harvard

I am applying to Harvard REA and have submitted my application in which I indicated that I would be interested in sending supplementary materials (an audio recording of piano).

1.) If I choose to not send this audio recording, do I have to do anything? Will my application be considered incomplete?

2.) Furthermore, on slideroom (the method through which the materials are sent) it states that I have until November 10th to submit materials for REA, specific for Harvard. However, on Harvard’s website it states that “Early Action applicants: Deadline for all application materials.” is November 1st.

Thoughts?

Thanks

You can call Admissions but I’d err on the side of caution and go with the most restrictive deadline of Nov 1.

This is what it explicitely states on the slide room website “For Early Action review, please submit materials by November 10, 2017. For Regular Action review, please submit materials by January 15, 2018.”

  1. If you choose not to send, then no, you do not have to do anything; your application will not be considered incomplete.
  2. I agree with @preppedparent I would assume the date from the Harvard website is the accurate date, regardless of what Slideroom says. But what I would really do as this is a critically important life decision, I would contact Harvard and not leave it up to interpretation (either yours or ours). If you interpret incorrectly, any argument that you make to Harvard along the lines “But Slideroom says…” will likely fall one deaf ears.

You can indicate the best three minutes in any recording if you do submit. It is good to include a music resume and you can also submit letters of recommendation from a teacher and/or director- in addition to the recording.
