Supplementary Materials

Hello :),

I'm a RD. I chose the "send supplementary materials" box in my application for Columbia U and sent my slides through mail to the admission office. However, I have no idea if it really got there or not because they don't show the status for supp materials in the application tracking on their website, only:

If you indicated on the Part 2 of your Application an intent to submit supplementary materials, please review our Policy on Supplementary Materials and make sure you send the supplement (e.g., science abstract, music disc or artistic slides) to Undergraduate Admissions as soon as possible.

Since they said they might not look at the supp materials, I'm not hoping for any real boost. I am wondering if they only start checking my application AFTER they received my supp? Should I send an email to ask?

Thanks in advance! :D

did you send in the slides with certified mail? i think you should’ve. that way, they’ll send you a little green note back with a signature, showing that they received it.

No I didn’t, I wish I had :(. I’m an international student so the mail takes around 2 weeks to get to the US, and I already had to resend one of my app materials (to another school though) because the mail got lost.
