Supplementary Questionnaire - Mean Anything?

I received a Cal Supplementary Questionnaire today about my mental disability - OCD and anxiety. I am below Cal's average (2070 SAT, 4.0W 3.75UW) and I'm trying to figure out if the supplementary materials mean anything. Are they offered for all students with any type of disability? Or do they offer them if you have a chance and are borderline only?

Hey! I have a disability too and I applied to Cal, but I didn’t get any of that. Did you get an email?

If you get the questionaire, this means that the admissions department cannot decide whether to admit you or reject you. There is only a small number of people who get this questionaire - maybe a couple thousand or so. It is generally a good thing to get this - at least you were not rejected.

It is very important that you take this questionaire seriously. It may ask for information that was already on your application, but you should include information that you might not have already covered.

Good luck!

I have heard that it was sent out to people with disability or special talent.

Thank you Phyzik! Are you sure though? I was thinking maybe everyone who has a disability got the questionaire?

But apparently not - agreatperhaps (John Green… hmm) I did get an email! It asked me to make an account and answer questions and submit a letter of recommendation.

I just got one from UC Davis. They said it would help increase my chances of admission. Now I’m really hoping for one from Cal and UCLA.

Long discussion on this topic here:

From what I’ve read, it seems that getting the supp is a good sign – evidence they are interested. I am wondering about what it means if you don’t get one. Some say they have already decided the yes, no, and maybe (with the maybe getting the supp). Seems too soon for it to all be worked out (less the 5% supps).
