<p>Asian/white male, Long Island (yeah....crap..), probably very good public school, upper/mid. class, applied for financial aid anyway, most likely denied</p>

<p>I applied ED to Penn, but I like being pessimistic and assuming I probably won't be getting in, here's what I'll be sending in to the other schools as well.</p>

<ul>
<li>GPA: W/UW-91/95</li>
<li>Rank: Doesn't rank</li>
<li>SAT: MVW - 730/710/670 (2110), taking it again tomorrow for reg. dec. schools</li>
<li>SAT II: Math IC-700 Physics-680</li>
<li>AP's: U.S. History-3 (11th)</li>
<li>Current courses: AP:Calc, Psych, Human Geo., Stat., Lit.</li>
<li>Past courses: All possible honors cept language, but I speak fluent Taiwanese</li>
</ul>

<p>EC:
- Martial Arts Intramurals - founder/pres./webmaster, 11-12, 2x week
(in the same boat: been training Ju-Jitsu for 8 years, at least 2x a week)
- "Lyceum" (Philosophy club) - founder, devoted, 11-12 1x week
- Anime club - pres., 10-11, tied in 3 other schools, was big for a while
- Literary society - lit. appreciation, 12, 1x month
- TI83 club - founder, calc. education - 30 positive feedbacks last year, est. avg. 7 pt. increase on Pre-calc final! - 11/12, sporadic
- Techie - manage some teacher's websites/some admin work, kind of unspoken, probably will go unnoticed, got a good rec. tho - 11/12, sporadic
- I help an improverished friend and his family with work and such, but it's mostly off the books, so I'm probably screwed for that on the resume</p>

<p>Sports:
Varsity Tennis (not really emphasizing)</p>

<p>Awards:
- GYL, NSLS, NSHSS, NHR, blah blah blah, doesnt mean much
- Various martial arts awards</p>

<p>Work Experience:
- Groundskeeper, Tennis Club, 10-12
- Law intern - Summer 11
- (Ind. Contractor?), helped neighbor build house for 2 months, summer 11</p>

<p>Etc.
- Spirited essay (epiphany) (Penn, might write about the same for Common App.), excellent rec's, probably some sort of business major
- probably messed up penn more by not sending in a resume (filled up their supplied online thing tho? eh)
- Got suspended for a day for being attacked by a racist. Noone hurt.</p>

<p>you're a strong candidate at most of these. pretty much the only things against you- you're from Long Island (which you know), i don't think you're considered a minority, and your scores could be higher. but besides that, you're a very strong candidate</p>

<p>it's that whole "priveleged upbringing" idea...colleges like poor, genius URMs from random obscure places. shows diversity, i guess. still, anymore comments? any feedback is appreciated.</p>

<p>lol well im not exactly pro at this.. quite the newb actually, but your ECs look spectacular to me at least and i think you have a good chance at all of those schools.</p>

<p>i don't see why you wont get in at any of those schools. try a reach like HYPS just for fun as a RD applicant.</p>

<p>You have pretty good credentials. Sorry about Penn, thats tough. I think that you have a good chance at CMU, but you probably won't get any aid. What do you want to major in?</p>

<p>Thnx for replying, I decided not to apply for aid on the chance that they might use it against me. I want to apply to Tepper for a B.A in bus. admin (right now, at least). Any thoughts on that?</p>
