Surprised You Were WAITLISTED?

well, from people who i talked to who were accepted, its seems a lot of people are skeptical to go there (and dont' plan on it)... so there might be good chance waitlisters will be offered a spot

Tufts Syndrome no longer exists, since every college nowadays look for the perfect fit. It is absurd to claim Tufts Syndrome just because your grades and SAT scores were great and you were not accepted to the school of your choice.

they informed me about the waitlist today

did they tell you they were starting to use the waitlist?

Yeah did anyone find out about the waitlist? I know last year only 2 people got off the waitlist (collegeboard.com) so I don't feel too optimistic but of the people I know who got in, none are going. Hopefully they'll take people off, it was my first choice. Even though I sent in a deposit somewhere else I still really want to go there.

Although Lehigh heavily weighs demonstrated interest, particularly from those who live within four hours, it's not everything. When my daughter was looking at Lehigh, the admissions counselor made a point of saying that they looked for leadership, initiative, and passion in addition to academic success. Basically, you're talking about Ivy League-type evaluations. Don't neglect your ECs.

I think you also have a better chance if you live in a geographical area not well represented in the student body. If you live in New Jersey, you'd better have an excellent application.

hey just wanted to let everyone know they actually let 70 people in through waitlist last year.. I called and asked awhile back.

All I was told was that they only took a couple and I am very lucky. I believe they informed everyone (or mostly everyone already) because they said they are not taking anyone eles off. I believe they took off between 2-10. I'm not 100% sure about any of this though, as I am just a student.

Overit, yes they did start to use it.

Gurl, they informed you that you were accpeted off of the waitlist? Where did you get this information about only 2-10 being taken off?

Gurl, what do you think your hook was to be one of the choosen? I have been talking to my admissions counselor weekly and she keeps having me call back the next week. I hope I am not falsely keeping my hopes up.

I stayed in contact with my counselor via email too and he said they expected around 2-10 or 12(when i asked for a very rough estimate), and they would let me know. (Note: this was a week before may 1st, things may very well have changed, and it was a rough estimate). Then a day or two before the 1st I got a call that i was being taken off. That about all I know.

Theplace- we are/were in the same situation, they told me the same things "call you next week" etc. I wouldn’t give up hope, it looks like you devolved a pretty good relationship with her.

I also think they decided who they are taking off but might not have contacted everyone. if this helps

Everyone in my school was weightlisted and I already decided to go to Smeal at Penn State because their programs is really the same as Lehigh but cheaper. I heard only Accounting is superior at Lehigh from one of the professors. Anyway, hope everyone gets in to where they want to go.
