Dear Ma’am,
My name is XXX and I am a rising sophomore at XXX University. I am writing today to appeal my academic suspension from XXX. When I received notice of my suspension, I was highly disappointed but I understand and accept full responsibility for it.
When I received my acceptance letter to XXX University, I was over the moon with excitement. It was my number one choice for school and to be given the opportunity to go was the greatest thing that had ever happened to me. Once I got to the school, I lost track of the real reason for why I was there. I was excited to be away from home and finally be independent. While enrolled I bit off more than I could chew. I registered for 16 credits, I joined quite a few organizations and I was involved in a few other events on campus. But I have learned my lesson. The way I handled my first year was not ideal and I have become aware of the damage that slacking off can do. I am now also aware of the multiple opportunities that XXX has for students to succeed.
Given the chance to return in the fall of 2015, I will be dedicated to making sure I meet the standard requirements of this great university. I have already been in contact with my major advisor, student success counselor and my advisor in the EAC. We have planned to meet once every two weeks to get me back and make sure that I stay on track to passing my classes and graduating on time. In addition to this, I am prepared to follow any guidelines and stipulations that come with my reinstatement. I had previously enrolled in the maximum 13 credits before my suspension went into action, however once it is removed, I plan to stick to that amount and work my hardest to reach not just the minimum requirements but also reach as far as I can.
I believe that I have the potential to excel. My family, friends and everyone that I have around me believe in my potential to succeed. The motto at XXX University is "Veritas et Utilitas" meaning "Truth and Service". Everything that I have written is the truth and I also believe in giving second chances. I am using this medium to reach out to you and ask you to believe in me enough to give me another chance. This is a great school and to receive a degree from this great institution at the time that has been calculated would mean everything to me and my family but I cannot do that unless I am reinstated for the fall semester.
I am highly appreciative of you taking the time to read this. And I do hope that you really do reconsider my suspension.
Dear Ma’am, [Do you know her name? That would be a better way to address her.]
My name is XXX**,** and I am a rising sophomore at XXX University. I am writing today to appeal my academic suspension from XXX. When I received notice of my suspension, I was highly disappointed**,** but I understand and accept full responsibility for it.
When I received my acceptance letter to XXX University, I was over the moon with excitement. It was my number one choice for school**,** and to be given the opportunity to attend was the greatest thing that had ever happened to me. Over the course of the semester, however, [Don’t make it seem so immediate.] I lost track of the real reason for why I was there [Which was what?]. I was excited to be away from home and finally live independently. While enrolled**,** I bit off more than I could chew. I registered for 16 credits, I joined quite a few organizations [How many? Sometimes little details are helpful to give context.] and I was involved in a few other events on campus. [And the result of this was… And you didn’t seek help because… And this happened for more than one semester because…] But I have learned my lesson. The way I handled my first year was not ideal and I have become painfully aware of the damage that slacking off can cause. I am now also aware of the multiple opportunities that XXX has for students to succeed [Like what?].
Given the chance to return in the fall of 2015, I will be dedicated to making sure I meet the standard requirements of this great university. I have already been in contact with my major advisor, student success counselor and my advisor in the EAC. We [Who is “we?”] have planned to meet once every two weeks to get me back and make sure that I stay on track to passing my classes and graduating on time. In addition to this, I am prepared to follow any guidelines and stipulations that come with my reinstatement. I had previously enrolled in the maximum 13 credits [Then how did you register for 16 the semester before?] before my suspension went into action, however once it is removed, I plan to stick to that amount and work my hardest to not just meet the minimum requirements but exceed them.
I believe that I have the potential to excel. My family, friends and everyone that I have around me believe in my potential to succeed. The motto at XXX University is “Veritas et Utilitas” meaning “Truth and Service”. Everything that I have written is the truth and I also believe in giving second chances. I am using this medium to reach out to you and ask you to believe in me enough to give me another chance. This is a great school and to receive a degree from this great [Don’t overuse the word.] institution at the time that has been calculated would mean everything to me and my family**,** but I cannot do that unless I am reinstated for the fall semester.
I am highly appreciative of you taking the time to read this**, and I hope** that you will reconsider my suspension.
Thank you so much @OnMyWay2013 do you mind if I send you the new draft for you to read over?
