What are some colleges (particularly in the North) that you can get a suite as a freshman. I honestly do not think I will be able to do communal bathrooms...too self-conscious.

Maybe a list where it's pretty much guaranteed that I can get a suite as a freshman.

Thanks in advance!

Well, the new style in dorm building favors the use of suites with private bathrooms over doubles with communal bathrooms, so it shouldn't be a short list.

NYU (every room/suite has its own bathroom). And I think there are at least options at UChicago to get a non-communal bathroom (or at least one used by fewer people... I don't know; I didn't look at the housing guide too closely, heh). Yale (as far as I know) has mostly shared bathrooms, although they are not as bad as an entire hallway sharing one bathroom (more like... eight-twelve people, if I remember correctly? I don't know, I stayed in Welch one summer).

Oh, and UConn DOES have communal bathrooms. Those are the only schools I can talk about, unfortunately. :)

If I'm wrong about UChicago or Yale, someone please correct me (I'm 100% sure on the NYU one, though, haha).

It's not in the North (more like Southern CA), but all freshman at Pepperdine are put into suites, with 8 people in a suite (9 for the few suites that have a single in addition to the 4 doubles).

For UChicago, it depends entirely on the dorm. Some have private bathrooms; some have four people sharing one bathroom; some have one bathroom for an entire flooor.

Southeast Missouri State University has an entire Tower (12 floors) that is suite-style living. It's entirely Freshmen too except for the RA's.
