Swapping majors after being accepted (UCLA)?

This questions been asked a lot but i havent seen many science or engineering majors asking about it. I was accepted as a geology major and the geochem looks nice but ive been thinking about going back to a chem major. The pre-reqs for chem major are different, they require 1 year chem, 1 year math, 1 year physics or 1 year ochem. Ive finished chem, math and 2/3 physics and about to finish 1/3rd ochem this summer.

How do my chances look if I were to appeal for a major swap later? Is there anything i can do to have more a chance of swapping majors? (like high gpa first quarter or anything?) I'm still not sure which major id want to do but i was planning on talking to some more counselors for both majors when i start school again in the fall. Does anyone know any circumstances where people have been admitted to different majors after being accepted for a certain major?

EDIT: woops forgot i asked this question a while back, shouldve just revived old thread

also, does anyone know if we have to sign up for the college honors program? its written in our new bruins checklist but it doesnt look like a requirement

Regarding the honors program: 3.75 community college gpa or you can apply one quarter after ucla with your uc gpa

@Gio Is it required that we apply though? Or is it just an optional step?

Pretty sure you apply you should google ucla honors and it will bring up the website

It’s definitely optional, it’s up to you if you want to be in it
