This thursday or friday? cue for panic attack
I’m so glad internationals come to know by email. It would have been awful to know through CC that everyone’s getting their decisions and that I have to wait like weeks more. Although Swat accepts 1 or 2 only from here, and sometimes none, or so my interviewer said, so I’m bracing myself for a rejection. Why? Because I come from a feeder country and sooo many must have applied!

I was just rejected by mail ): I’m from Pennsylvania, by the way.

Good luck everyone! It said in the letter that they received 6,500 applications and only admitted 378 students. VERY stiff competition this year in college admissions. I was very surprised.

Sorry to hear that, alexpappas13 - I wish you the best. Thanks for letting us know the letters are coming. Here in Kentucky, nothing in today’s mail.
Freckles93 - a few letters went out in mid-March, but most are going out this week, apparently. The list shows the screen names (on College Confidential boards) of people that have been accepted.

Overall Admissions Statistics
I guess that the number 378 is the predicted number of freshmen enrollment, not the actual number of accepted students!

I copied some previous admission information from Swarthmore:

Total Applicants: 6,041
Male Applicants: 2,210
Female Applicants: 3,365
Total Acceptances: 974
Male Acceptances: 455
Female Acceptances: 514

Yield: ? 40%
Freshmen Enrollment Statistics
Total Freshmen Enrollment: 388

Full-Time Female Enrollment: 204
Part-Time Male Enrollment: 0

Soon2BMTnester: Thank you Everything happens for a reason. I know whichever college I attend I will flourish at. I’m not allowing myself to get too sad.

378 is the targeted class size for the class of 2015. They would usually admit around 900+ to reach that class size. Their yield generally hovers around 40%.

Good luck to everyone waiting! Historically, Swarthmore seems to mail on Thursdays, with people living within the state and fairly close to the school receiving their letters on Friday. Two days to places like NJ, NY, and some others. Probably by Tuesday across the country.

^Same here. International student, no email yet.
Does that mean we’re rejected?
Seeing the acceptance rate (and assuming it’s much much lesser for internationals asking for a laaaarge amount of aid), I’ve already convinced myself that I’ll be rejected. Still, I’d rather see that in writing as soon as possible before I go mad. Ahh, I really love Swat, so I’ll be disappointed no matter what. But it’s silly to hope. :(
