Yeah, it's still November, but I'm already stressing out about my decision almost every day. How are you guys faring?

Not too well lol. I sent my ACT scores on the 10th and the checklist says they still are ‘missing’… So it looks like I’ll have to give the ACT or admissions office a call soon… Anyone having a similar problem w/missing things on the checklist that you sent?

As far as my decision for ED goes though, it never crosses my mind that I should have applied ED to another college. I want to be a Swattie!

I’m the kind of person who used to glance with contempt at the many versions of this “stress thread” throughout College Confidential, but seeing as I’ve been running a countdown clock on my phone since there were 3,000,000 seconds to go, I thought I’d put my name in. I’m officially thinking about this decision every day! (There are 1,200,000 seconds left)

^^ Yeah, I have something missing as well, although I think in my case it’s more because I go to an international school overseas and the grades and transcripts can get a little confusing. I already got my counselor to write an email.

^ HAHA. I do an occasional countdown online, but how do you know what time they’re going to send them out? q:

Well, not that I’m an expert, but I think we should receive it around the first day in the week of the 15th (Monday the 13th) and I won’t be able to open the letter until 4:45. There’s a chance it will come on the 10th, the Friday, but that seems a little early.

Here’s another one stressing out.
I was about to send in the first quarter grade
when I spotted a B+ for IB English.
… It won’t hurt much, I hope. I really hope that’s the case.

Do any of you guys know how people living outside of the US get notified? I remember reading a post here that said we get emailed, but I can’t find it now. I already emailed Admissions about it, but they haven’t gotten back to me.

^ Don’t worry, IB is difficult. And a B+ is still a good grade - and you seem to be implying that it’s your lowest grade, which is great. Are you doing HL or SL English?

My daughter is an ED applicant. Like the rest of you, she is counting down the days and is very excited and nervous to receive her decision! Good luck to all.

are the acceptance/rejection letters mailed on the 15th, or anticipated to be received by the 15th? when did they come out last year?

starfruit: It’s English HL. I got like 89% on one in-class commentary and that ended up being like the only test during the 1st quarter. And, yes, I have A’s for other classes (which includes AP Calculus and IB History HL)

You’ll get the letters before the 15th.

^^ Ohh, that’s pretty rough. But an A in History HL?! Wow.

^ I don’t know whether that’s good or bad! Eep. Do you know if the same goes for people living outside the US?

kai427, I’m having the same problem. I sent my scores on the 12th and the admissions checklist still shows that they have not been received. I faxed them in yesterday, but it still shows up as “missing.” I’m freaking out!

^
I ended up sending a couple of emails, and my guidance counselor called the admissions office. I was about to fax my scores when I got an email telling me they got my scores.

My advice to you would be to call the admissions office ASAP. My admissions officer said that things like this happen more often than we would think so don’t freak out!

I dont know if you sent the SAT or ACT, but the ACT took weeks to finally get the score to swarthmore!

Yes, I called admissions yesterday and today. They said they think they have my ACT scores, but I should fax them over just in case, so I did. All set. Still freaking out about Dec. 15…!

I applied to Swarthmore EDI! The next week and a half is going to last forever… I’m so nervous! It’s kind of nice that the letters are expected to get here before the 15th – is it usually earlier that week, or is it ever the Friday/Saturday before? I just want to know how soon in advance I need to start rushing home from school every day to check the mail!! (:

^ By looking at threads from earlier years, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the letters will be mailed out on Thursday, and when you get them then depends on how close you live to Swat.

Right. I’m in Oregon… So I’m expecting Monday or Tuesday, probably? So nervewracking!!!

Anyone else beginning to lose it? The idea that we could know as soon as this Friday is taking over my mind! It’s all I can think about.

haha, absolutely. but it’s a classy sort of losing it, right? I mean, we’re not some lame old Harvard/Yale/Princeton/MIT/Stanford applicants.
