They don’t do it through e-mail? Still send out postal mail to inform if an applicant is accepted or not?

“Snail mail” only from Swarthmore. No email.

Anxiously waiting for the decision on the second round of ED applications for our oldest son. I have been compulsively checking this forum, so decided to contribute something. Who else out there is waiting?

I applied EDII, and haven’t heard anything yet. I’m ranked 88 out of 500 at my school (still top 20%), GPA of 3.9, Quaker Hispanic female from Virginia, and 2150 on the SAT. I also applied to Bryn Mawr, Reed, Kenyon, Oberlin, and Northeastern. I wasn’t able to interview. I’m really in love with Swarthmore - I want to double major in International Studies and Peace and Conflict Resolution, with a minor in Linguistics or Anthropology. I’m a member of six different school organizations and the president of two; I’ve performed over 150 hours of community service in the past 3 years.

I’m just really freaked out because I know my grades aren’t spectacular (I suffered last year from severe depression, and nearly dropped out; instead, I pulled off the year with Cs), but I’m hoping they look past that.

Don’t spare my feelings- do you think I’ll get in?

^ I don’t think this is the thread for this, but I wouldn’t see the point in making one, either. You applied EDII, how long can it be before they tell you? We’re not admission officers so our opinion really doesn’t matter. You’ve also reduced yourself to 4 numbers; Swarthmore’s going to see much more than that. What’s done is done. Busy yourself with anything you can until admission decisions are released.

But hey, one of the two majors I’m interested in is Sociology and Anthropology and we applied to three of the same schools, so maybe we’ll end up in a class together! (Just trying to lift the mood, but in all honesty, I don’t think it’ll help you to think about this 24/7.)

I know how you feel! I applied ED 1 and was so anxious to hear. I kept checking college confidential in school (like every hour) haha, so I don’t blame you for thinking about it a lot! Also, the programs you mentioned are exactly the same as mine, and our SAT scores are pretty similar. I got in, so don’t feel discouraged. Your Quaker values, which also seem to be evident in your academic interests, are probably helpful - especially if you focused on them in your essays.
I’m obviously not in admissions, but I hope you get in. Good luck!

SOOOOOOO ANXIOUS! I live not far from Philly and nothing’s in the mail. Do they send a letter to everyone or just those who are admitted?

That’s weird. I received my letter yesterday and I’m from Connecticut. They definitely send out both admits and rejects simultaneously so that’s not the reason why you haven’t received yours. Best of luck.

received my acceptance letter a week ago; in CT too

uhmm, internationals get it via email first right?
(i’m an rd applicant from india.)
