SWE Prospective Candidates Weekend

I'm just wondering who out in CC land is planning on coming to PCW! If you have any questions about the weekend, let me know!

I plan on attending! My question is this: how do the classes operate in the different schools? Do engineering students take classes with say english majors ever?

You're pretty much allowed to take any class in any college as long as you fulfill the prerequisites. In fact as engineers you are required two freshman writing seminars and 6 other liberal arts electives -- in those classes you'll definitely be mixed with people from all majors!

Sounds cool! I have another question. Is there a dorm system at the engineering school itself, and how are the gender ratios at cornell engineering?

Engineering school does not have a dorm system -- everyone is mixed, which i think is a good thing, gives you a chance to meet some non-engineers. Also, cornell engineering has one of the better gender ratios in the country for engineering schools. I think last years class may have been about 33% women (considering that the national average is 18% that is fantastic) I think they're shooting for a higher ratio this year.

1/3 that is pretty decent. But it does allow for more of a selection of guys ;) I have one more question (last one I swear lol) do the dorm systems sponsor events so students can meet each other?
