What are recommended sweet 16 party ideas?

Watch "Sweet 16" on MTV.

lumberjack sweet 16. that would be so badass.

Get some friends, go out to dinner, and then see a movie. Just don't get trashed.

I forgot it was my birthday until about 5 o'clock at night.

LUMBERJACK!!!

That's such a great idea. I love it.

I went to Laser Tag. I thought that there was something ironic and funny about going to Laser Tag (a place that usually hosts parties for 8-year-olds) for my 16th birthday (which is supposed to be OMG-UR-1ST-wiCKED-MaTURE-bDAY).

My friends and I just went out to movies. But, Thats because I believe 18 and 21 to be more important.

Contrary to what Virtuoso said, get totally wasted and trashed.

Just Kidding, dinner and movies is always good.
Try and find a club that lets minors in.

Lumberjack or laser tag, lumberjack or laser tag... The eternal question.

The real issue is whether you want manly chainsaws or sissy light guns. I don't think there's any actual debate here.

If you were serious, my d had a great party for her sweet 16: they did "Cat in the Hat" stuff - it was hilarious.

I suspect I am way out of this loop though

im planning on hosting a really large party. im just trying to think of where would be a cool place.

I was thinking the zoo? San Diego has a nice zoo.

I wouldn't go to the zoo...SD has a nice one, but it just doesn't say "party" to me.

Laser tag would be super fun. Or if you're in SD, you might consider Balboa park...I went there when I was in SD and had a blast with all my friends.

I had a Luau party for my Sweet 16, then we all went Cosmic Bowling. ^_^

I've never played laser tag before but it sounds fun.

can you invite 35 people to a laser tag party?

can you shoot at 17 other people?

hell yes.

im going to try to add some helpful advice....

I'm 17 now, and just went through like 6 sweet sixteens.

All of them were dance parties. If you're a parent, i wouldnt recomend the whole "rent out some place with a dancefloor and get a DJ thing". at all of the parties i went to everyone showed up or found a way to get drunk, and the dancing isnt too pretty from an adults perspective.

I would say dont have a party with more than 30 kids, and do do a dance party.

I agree with ChaseD13. I went to about 4-5 sweet sixteens this past year and all have been have parties where there was a DJ and dancing. If you don't want people drinking, have security at the door and don't let them bring in alcohol, and also don't let people leave and come backn(to get alcohol, drink it, and come back drunk) unless they want to leave permanently.

As for the dancing...yeah it's dirty...oh well. My parents and most of my friends' parents have seen us dance and they don't care too much, so hopefully your parents won't either. If they do, ask for an older sibling or cousin to provide supervision.

how about everyone goes dressed a bunch of different colors and everyone leaves in one

hmm i dont think ill do the whole dance thing. (parents) i have lots of people to invite though.
