Swimming & Weight Training

Anyone familiar with the Course workload or the Teachers for these two courses:

12345 PED 106C GRE 2.102 7-WEIGHT TRAINING TTH 9:00- 10:30 Teacher: TYSON, K

12220 PED 106C TSC POOL 1-SWIMMING MW 5:00- 6:30P Teacher: BECKWITH, K

Taking them Both along with 5 other courses: BA 101, BA 324, STA 309, GOVT 310L, AST 309 ..hope workload is not is not much for those PED courses

According to PickAProf/MyEdu:

Both classes are very easy and have very low workloads. Just be sure to actually show up every day and participate actively. None of the student reviewers had anything negative to say.

Here are grade distributions, but remember that some of these teachers have taught other PED 106C courses which included actual tests and quizzes over the rules and the material. Apparently Beckwith taught a beginning handball class that people had serious problems with on the final, so that explains his grade distribution.

Do you have any idea how deep one will be able to swim after taking that class because I can already swim in up to 6 foot water. Just need some good swimming guidelines/techniques to swim even deeper …lets say 15-20 feet.

You’d have to take like scuba diving for that.

Nothing about swimming deep on the info on the site:

hmm beginning swimming (101 J) and Conditioning Swimming (106C) are two different courses. Wonder if they also teach you how to swim in conditioning because there wasn’t much on the site or any prerequisites for conditioning swimming although the site was very helpful for other courses. thx

Yes, I know. There is a section for conditioning that talks about swimming.

" Topic 1: Swimming (conditioning)
Swimming (water exercise): This course will review and implement various forms of water exercise and/or running and the principles of nutrition and physical conditioning.
Swimming (water polo): This course will consist of a development and review of the fundamental skills common to water polo, study of offensive and defensive player strategies, training and conditioning methods, coaching and officiating methods, the conduct of water polo competition, and development of methods and materials for water polo.
Swimming (triathlon) "

From my interpretation, I don’t think they teach swimming for beginners in this course. What do you think?
