Switch from business to engineering?

I was admitted to Carlson school of management for fall 2013 but I've changed my mind and want to do an engineering major instead.

Once I go there can I just switch to the college of engineering or is there some process I need to take to officially switch majors? Do I have to apply separately to the engineering school?

Here is a link that might help. If you are really serious about switching to engineering and wish to graduate in 4 years then it is important to follow the recommended course work so you can stay on track.

[Transfer from within the University : College of Science & Engineering : University of Minnesota, Twin Cities](http://cse.umn.edu/admissions/transferadm/CSE_CONTENT_374935.php)

Click on one of the engineering majors and then download the 4 year plan to view coursework. http://cse.umn.edu/deptsmajors/majors/index.php</a></p>

If you are 100% sure, consider calling the admissions office now. I have a friend who applied to the wrong college and was able to get the switch done before starting freshman year.

That said: Carlson seems to do a very good job with the freshman experience (much better than CSE). It would not necessarily be a bad thing to complete their requirements (which are easy) and also take the Calc-Phys-Chem I/II sequence. The downside to this route is that you have to risk a college transfer (which is not guaranteed). However, if you keep up a good GPA I wouldn’t expect that to be a problem.
