So I'm a potential incoming freshman who has been admitted into CSE. I have received a scholarship from CSE for 5k a year which I lose if i don't remain enrolled in CSE degree program. However, I potentially am thinking of changing my major to something more business-related. Are there any loopholes to this? Is there anyway I can remain in CSE while getting a Carlson major? I know that double majoring is always an option, but it's probably safe to say that if i were to double major in something in the engineering field along with something like finance management, i'd have no social life in college, right? Any advice from anybody will be appreciated!

Oh and I will have alot of AP credits entering freshman year if that changes anything....:

AP Physics B
APUSH
AP Physics C Mechanics
AP Physics C E&M
AP Psychology
AP MacroEconomics
AP Calculus BC

The only way to be sure is to read the fine print on your scholarship offer, but it is very unlikely that a CSE scholarship will apply if you are not in CSE.

There is only one ‘loophole’ I can think of: most Carlson majors don’t have many demanding freshman courses. So you could stay in CSE for freshman or maybe even sophomore year - with scholarship - while easily satisfying CSOM requirements. If you then decide to transfer, you’ll only have two/three years to pay the higher rate. Of course, a college transfer is not guaranteed and this approach will probably obligate you to take a number of CSE courses that wouldn’t be needed if you end up in CSOM.

You could look at the industrial/systems engineering major. It is a new program in CSE with somewhat of a business emphasis, and I think they would probably let you use a management minor for tech elective credit (check with the department to be sure):
