Both my friend and I applied to UVA and were accepted yesterday. We both planned on majoring in mathematics, so we both got into CAS. Apparently he has had a change of heart though and would rather pursue engineering, but I told him it may not be possible. Can you switch colleges at UVA? I tried to find some official info on it from the website, but I didn't have any luck.

Yes, you certainly can. College to E-School is probably one of the easiest transfers also. Since he knows so far ahead he can probably enroll in engineering classes his first semester even though he would not technically be in the E-School. That way he won’t be behind on classes when he transfers. I think it’s unlikely that he’ll officially be in the E-School until second semester though.

My friend had the exact same thing happen to him. He emailed admissions around the beginning of April and they switched him IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks, and nice location plue00.

Email the Dean, Greg Roberts. We ask that switches be made before decisions are released, but if you have the preparation needed, we can often make the switch. Once in a while, you might have to wait a little bit for another student to ask for a switch in the other direction.

We can almost always accommodate the requests.
