If someone requested and received housing in Cook for next year, what are her chances of switching into Keeton next year?
How can she get out of it?

What is Keeton going to be known for?

What is Keeton going to be known for?

None of the dorms on West are "known for" anything. They're all duplicates of one another, they're all mostly sophomores. Even the dining halls are the same. Why exactly do you want to move into Keeton- just because it's new?

I'd stick with Cook- there might still be construction going on inside Keeton, and trust me from someone who's lived on West- that's something you want to avoid being near, if possible.

Out of curiosity, have the West Campus houses begun to develop "personalities"? e.g. is one more known for science/engineering, the other for languages, another for politics, etc.?

No room changes are permitted for the first week or two. Housing has to figure out if/where there are vacancies At that point, you may request a room change and if a room is open there is a $50 fee and you can move in.

I don't think so. The only West Campus dorm that had a reputation was the Transfer Center....for being the most fun dorm on West. But, they've since torn it down :-D

lol I tried to do housing online but canceled my application as I was filling it out because I noticed they had me labeled as a freshman. Anyone else have that problem?

Yes! I did! I emailed housing about it, but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Resolved: I just called housing and it seems every transfer will have that problem until housing updates their page! Regardless, it is OK to fill out the application and submit it. They'll update their records eventually.

Just noticed that you asked this question on another thread.

On Keeton: You may want to call for reassurance, but if you note that Keeton is your first choice on the housing app (there's a place where you can write in the reasons for your preference), they'll probably consider it as much as if it were on the drop down menu with the other houses on West.

..It's odd that we're given the option to select a house preference online whereas on the paper application we're not. Again, this could be because they need to update the former (which could mean no house preference..)

oh cornell housing ... never gettin it right since 1839.

lol..does anyone else find it weird that House 5 still hasn't been named and it's supposed to open this fall?

nobody's donated enough money to have it named after them yet :-P

Gomestar makes the big bucks on wall street. He should step up.

Think of the possibilities! The dining hall could feature his favorite line-up of burritos.

Well... all of the West Campus houses are named after famous Cornell professors. Not big bucks donors.

The fact that Mews hasn't been renamed yet is the bigger story.

^I was being sarcastic

I'm dense.
