Switching into Engineering School

Hey everyone, I got into SMU EA and into the Dornsife school. However, now I want to switch my major (undecided) into Computer Science and go to the engineering school. How easy is it to make a switch like that and how should I go about it? Thanks!

At SMU, almost everyone enters as a pre-major and you have time to pick your major. I believe you have until your sophomore year. It is very easy to choose any major as long as you have a good GPA. Good luck!

SMU is a great school. My son is a Junior there and he loves it. He is majoring in Comp Sci too. He also got an internship with Msft and his girlfriend has an internship with Google so Comp Sci is a great major to choose from. Your advisers will help you will all this. Just let them know when you sign up for classes that you’d like to take some comp sci courses. You can take them as early as your first semester which is awesome! Not all schools will allow you to do that so that is another nice thing about SMU.

Thanks for the reply! I’m super excited for next year and glad to hear there are plenty internship opportunities
