Switching into IB program

I declared Finance as an intended major on my college app. I’ve been accepted into the honors program as well as the school of business. Is there a possibility that I can switch my intended major to International Business. I know I can no longer apply for any of the cohort programs, but I was wondering about the IB Classic choice.

Check with admissions, but I think that you can still switch your major to IB. Since you have been accepted into the Honors College, it would be better to declare IB as your intended major. Honors students do not have to reapply to the IB program their junior year if the maintain the required GPA and keep on track with their language. This is a significant advantage since it is very competitive to transfer in junior year.

In addition, IB majors have to double major, so you would can still be a finance major. Regarding your cohort question, you may be able to interview for a cohort once you arrive on campus if the cohort is not filled. My S is in the IBA Cohort Program and has really enjoyed it.

Last of all, if you are interested in investment banking, you may want to look at the Finance Scholars Program. The Finance Scholars Program is a competitive program that you interview for during your sophomore year and is geared towards placing students with investment banking firms for internships and full-time positions after they graduate.

Admission requirements can change, but the current options are outlined here:

I do note that for the class entering in 2014, there is this statement:
“On your freshman application, you must have selected international business as your intended major or made a major change to international business through the USC Admissions Office by May 1 (prior to enrollment at USC).” While this is not the requirement for your class, you might want to consider contacting them.
