Switching major within Emory

If I apply a social science major, what are the requirements(such as GPA) to switch to a totally different major such as engineering or computer science?

Emory does not offer an engineering major. There is a partnership with Georgia Tech but if you want engineering Emory may not be the best choice.

When you apply to Emory you don’t apply to a major, so there is no need to “switch.” Everyone starts at Emory College. You can select whatever major you want. If you want business, however, you will need to apply to the business school during your sophomore year.

What if too many students choose the same major? Is there any competition for the impacted majors?

Emory doesn’t limit majors. The one exception might be the nursing school.

There is no competition for majors. Pick what you want.

@jms1011 : If you are doing this to get an admissions advantage, please note that Emory is not going to care what you apply as. They know that an insane amount of students switch to completely different paths all the time. They just want to see if you have a serious interest in learning (could be specific subjects or in general). I think people think Emory is like some places like MIT or Stanford where if the student claims they are applying interested in STEM, that they will have to “compete” against geniuses/those who have already demonstrated an unusual amount of aptitude in an area. That doesn’t seem to be how Emory works. Hell, you can even get creative and perhaps explain how an interest in social sciences could be connected to computation. This actually isn’t that hard and is almost the whole purpose of things like the QSS majors (most which are social science and humanities). There is no: “We mainly want to take only those who are already perfect and well developed in these particular areas because our curriculum is designed to cater to those students” at Emory, so maybe don’t worry about it. Emory is very liberal arts oriented and big on the interdisciplinary learning now-a-days so saying “I was good at this in high school but really want to try to learn this at university” may actually make you look good if you do it well.
