Switching Majors as an Incoming Non-Transfer Freshman Student

Hey all! I’m new to this website, but I used to look at this place a lot after submitting all of my apps. I’m so happy I got accepted into UCSD!

The only problem is I was accepted in as an Electrical Engineer major and I really want to change my major into something more Communications-based. I haven’t had a chance to read a lot of other posts here, but I was wondering what the detailed process is for changing majors as of now. I still have around two months left in high school. Or do I wait until some sort of an orientation? Or when school officially starts? Are there requirements or prerequisites I need to complete before even thinking about switching majors? And how hard is it to switch from an Engineering major to a Communications major?

** I was accepted into Thurgood Marshall College by the way!

Thanks for any advice or tips.

Getting out of engineering is a lot easier than the other way around. We need more of that! This school is too STEM heavy. I don’t think Communications is capped at all so feel free to change at triton link.

Oh really? I didn’t know that, haha. Well I just wanted to pursue a major that I liked; I’m building a base for my backup plan. I actually really want to pursue a career in acting, but I’ve just always been interested in the Communications field.

Well that’s a relief!

So… how do I switch exactly? What Triton link are you referring to again? Sorry I’m like really new to everything.
