switching majors

I heard/read somewhere (can't remember) that once you get admitted to Stanford you can change majors into any other school (ex. from humanities--> engineering). Is this true, or do you have to meet other requirements when transferring?

*quick question- would visiting the campus and checking on my app (to show interest) help my admission at all at this time in the admissions process?

Yes, you are admitted to the University as a whole, not a specific program so you can change your major at any point in time.

Stanford does not care for demonstrated interest so I don't think it would help.

I actually asked the dean of admissions, Dean Shaw, if it matters what major you put on your application. As fuzzylogic said, it is by no means binding; I have found Stanford to be welcoming and encouraging of exploration. However, if you express interest in engineering and don't have any calculus background to back that up, it will look suspicious and inconsistent.

Do HYP have this non-binding major policy too?
